423 Project Proposal

Drunk driving is a big problem within the college age group. I hope to look deeper into this problem, the consequences that stem from it, and how people are hoping to solve it. Some people I want to talk to are the students against drunk driving on CMU's campus, a police officer, an insurance representative, someone who has lost a loved one or friend from a drunk driver, and possibly even someone who was convicted of drunk driving and is now remorseful.

    This is a really good idea. It does not need to be CMU related. It can come from Mt. Pleasant or Isabella County. Right now it is too general. I would love to see you juxtapose a victim and a convicted drunk driver. Contact MADD and/or SADD. Find someone that has a severe story. Go interview them and get still photos to use in the piece. Think about visuals. You need lots and lots. Shoot the area where the accident happened etc. Show the accident. Go to the cemetery when someone visits. Look through archives at The Morning Sun. You must have the emotional element to this story to be able to move your viewers.
